JFM Drops Compared to Bridgerton’s Lady Whistledown and Dr. Medlock’s LinkedIn Message

Signers and Supporters. Thank you! The JFM team is honored and excited to hear that you're reading the JFM updates and sharing them with your networks. The JFM reach and network are growing exponentially. Recently someone compared JFM’s information drops to Bridgerton’s Lady Whistledown. JFM strives to make Shonda proud and live up to the comparison.

This movement is grounded in truth. The fight to support Dr. Medlock is bigger than one individual. The JFM team believes that our resistance and demand for justice is a demonstration that this type of racist behavior will not be tolerated without accountability.

JFM honors everyone who is sharing stories and trusting the movement with experiences. JFM is also grateful to those who have contributed resources or purchased meals to support the volunteer collective.

Our fearless, Dr. Medlock posted a Linked message sharing, “Thank you to the Colorado community members, advocates, and truth-tellers who have acknowledged my existence, humanity, and contributions as a public servant. I am revived and appreciative of the support. I have no regrets regarding my authentic embrace of communities who have been harmed by traditional behavioral health systems; I continue to seek a reimagining of those systems. Because equity means that there is room to focus on those who are marginalized while lifting outcomes for all. Here's to a future that includes us, sees us, celebrates us, and supports us”.

The JFM team highlighted direct examples of racism and oppression in our most recent share and wants to name the list did not encompass all of the harm Dr. Medlock experienced. As a Black woman leader in her tenure launching and leading the BHA and in the face of people in power using their platforms to cause pain, Dr. Medlock continues to demonstrate strength, tenacity, and invincibility. All the more reason to support the movement and call for Justice for Medlock.

Sign the Petition to Reinstate Dr. Medlock

On Monday, April 17, 2023, Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) Commissioner, Morgan Medlock, MD, MDiv, MPH, a Black community leader, was unjustly removed from her Colorado cabinet position without cause. Her removal risks the lives of millions of people in Colorado who deserve accessible, trauma-informed, and culturally-responsive behavioral health care. It also perpetuates the message that strong, qualified Women of Color are vulnerable to the whims of political systems and cabinet leadership.

Demand justice for Dr. Medlock by signing the petition for Governor Polis to bring her back as the Commissioner of the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (BHA).
